Well, there's been a lot happening around here lately. Where to begin?
The first planting of corn is tasseling, blueberries will be ready in a week or two, sunflowers are blooming beautifully, peppers are sizing up, wild blackberries will be ready anytime, and tomatoes are about to start turning colors. Cucumbers are still going a bit longer. Third crop of corn is up, along with another set of squash. Basil is performing beautifully. Queen Anne's lace is flowering everywhere, a second clutch of wrens and phoebes have fledged from their nests around the house. I'm trying my best to keep up with the weeds and the watering! Still haven't dug up the potatoes, onions, and garlic yet. We still have Swiss chard, beets, scallions, and leeks, and greens to bring to the market, and are dunking mushroom logs periodically for fresh mushrooms!
We took most of last week off for the fourth, got to visit with Anthony's family and were able to rest up a good bit. Thanks to Amy and Mary for watching over the garden while we were away! If you missed us last Thursday or today at the market, don't worry, we'll be back this Thursday (July 6th). If you're planning to making pesto, give us a holler or see us at the market, we have plenty of basil to go around and can bring you probably as much as you want if we can get a heads up beforehand.
Hoping your holiday was refreshing!
