Ok, so didn't quite make it to planting the corn and all today, but I did get some very important chores done to keep the homefires burning bright (groceries, painting the living room, and so on). Hopefully I'll get to planting yet this weekend. The tomatoes, though, did get trellised this afternoon on either end of a cooling afternoon storm. Thanks for that goes to Amy, a new intern, and her brother Micah, who was in town today and was kind enough to help out as well. Amy's just in time to get started before it's time to harvest blueberries next month!

Apple tree update: We have 1 Golden Delicious, 1 Arkansas Black, and 2 Granny Smith trees left, at $15 each. Don't forget, except in the case of the Golden Delicious, you'll need two trees of different varieties for proper pollination. Feel free to look around if you want to mix varieties I don't have. Your local garden center may have one you like. I know Raymonds Garden Center on Kanuga Road in Hendersonville has some of the newer varieties, such as Jonagold, etc. Let me know if you would like any of the ones I have, and I'll be happy to bring them to one of the markets or meet you here at the farm.

Produce news: We have summer squash! And basil! Let us know if you're interested in quantities of basil for pesto. Also, we're now cutting from a new planting of salad mix, Thursday will be only the second harvest so no bitterness - it'll be good to have a fresh, tender mix! We'll be low on head lettuce for a while as the second crop grows out, but it won't be long with this warm weather.

Planting news: The second corn crop is up! The third crop should go in today, with another planting of lettuce and squash.

Gotta run!
