September 30

Greetings from the farm!

We enjoyed a great trip to Denver, camping all the way out. The mountains themselves were amazing, but there was so much beauty in the dry prairies too. One of the many highlights was getting to photograph a coyote taking a morning stroll along the far bank of the Rio Grande in New Mexico! We also visited the Denver Botanical Gardens, which was spectacular! We really had a wonderful time.

When we got back on the 21st, after two weeks away, everything here had completely changed! The weather has been cooler and wetter, the cover crops and fall crops I put in before I left are all coming up. I still have to plant the onions (hope they'll make it this late) and i have garlic for next year coming in the mail. Still lots and lots more than that to do this fall!

We still have a few tomatoes and peppers, and the apples are still tasty and sweet! This week, we'll start harvesting collards and kale, so bring out your fall recipes. We're now selling violet and blueberry vinaigrettes to go with your salads, meats, and other dishes. Another new product is our lavender bath sachets - great for soothing your skin as the weather gets cooler!

Butternut Squash Update:
We have lots of quality butternut squash. I'm trying to move as much as possible before it starts to freeze (probably sometime in the next few weeks). The squash themselves last quite a long time at room temperature (can be up to a year or more). They can also be cooked and then frozen for extra long storage. highly nutritous, and a great price: $1.00/lb. If anyone is interested, I'm also selling slightly blemished squash at half-price, which is an excellent choice for anyone planning to cook them in the next month or so, or for anyone looking to make their own baby food. Help spread the word! I'd be happy to bring your order to the tailgate market, or deliver to produce stands and restaurants.

Here's to a beautiful sunny Tuesday!

Monday, September 1

September 1st

No market today (Labor Day)! We'll see you all Thursday.

For the next two weeks, we're taking a much-needed break. The Monday market at Raymonds Garden Center will be handled by wonderful folks there, and Lisa (the jelly lady) and her daughters will man the Thursday Flat Rock market for me. My tables and produce will still be at the market. Look for the big red van!

Thanks for your continued support!

I'll see you back again September 22nd.
